Our Day at Port Discovery Children's Museum!

December 31, 2017

We recently spent a fun day learning at the Port Discovery Children's Museum in Baltimore. The museum has many hands-on exhibits designed for a wide variety of ages, so there is something for everyone! My baby enjoyed crawling around the Tot Trails, a space just for the littlest ones to explore and climb. The exhibit also includes a sand table, books, tunnels, and other features appealing to younger kids.

My older son liked learning about Egyptians, splashing in the Wonders of Water Exhibit, playing indoor soccer and drumming in the music area. You can read about all of their temporary and permanent exhibits here. All of the exhibits are interactive and will keep your kids engaged and learning.

Learn about Egyptian hieroglyphics

Learn about the water cycle

Learn about music!

In the center of the Museum is a giant climbing structure that is three stories tall. Your kids will definitely be tired out after climbing and playing in it!

What I loved about Port Discovery:

  • It was clean. I thought the exhibits and restrooms were very clean compared to other museums. Please note only water is allowed in the museum. You can bring food and eat it in a separate area, which was clean as well.
  • It was safe. Everyone in your family gets matching bands and they check the bands before you can exit.
  • It was fun! You could easily spend an entire day there with all of the fun activities.

Port Discovery Children's Museum is the perfect day trip from the Reston area. Admission is $15.95 for ages 2 and up.
