Our nation's capital has a spectacular annual fireworks display, but you don't need to travel that far to enjoy fireworks this Fourth of July! Here are some local celebrations:
Reston Association's July 4th Celebration
Start the day with a splash! Come to the pool and enjoy festivities before watching fireworks. At Lake Newport Recreation Area (11601 Lake Newport Road)
- 12:00 pm-4:00 pm
- DJ, contests, and prizes.
- Pizza, cotton candy and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Great Falls Hometown Celebration- July 4th
5K, Parade, and Hometown Celebration at Great Falls Village Centre 8 am-1pm
- 8 am: 5K Walk/Run- Great Falls Freedom Memorial. Annual 5K Walk/Run to local trails. Registration open online or runners may register on day of the race, prior to 8 am.
- 9 am: Little Patriot Parade- Village Centre Green (at the Gazebo). Babies and Toddlers up to age 5 are welcome to parade their finest patriotic display around the Green.
- 10 am: Main Parade. See the floats, horses, antique cars and pets making a loop in the Main Parade.
- 10:30 am - 12:30 pm: Festivities, Food and Fun- Village Centre Green. After the parade, enjoy burgers, dogs and snow-cones along with music, field games and festivities.
- 6:00 pm: Fireworks and Fun- Turner Farm Park. Live music, games, contests, and food trucks will entertain until the Big Show gets underway just after dusk.
Town of Herndon Fourth of July- July 4th
Join the Town of Herndon for a family-fun event featuring games, patriotic arts & craft activities, live music, family games, bingo, food, balloon artists and more. Events take place in Bready Park at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave.
- 6:30 pm: games, bingo and children's arts & crafts begin- all for free! Festival foods will be available for sale.
- 7:15 pm: entertainment
- 9:30 pm: fireworks show choreographed to music and begins at dark (approximately)
