Postpartum Fitness at Worldgate Sport & Health

September 28, 2017

After having two kids, my fitness level isn’t where it used to be.  My time for exercising is more limited now, sleep-deprivation affects my energy levels, and sometimes the motivation is just not there after taking care of babies all day.  However, I want to be healthy for my family and myself. My current goal is to get back into a fitness routine, and reach my pre-pregnancy fitness level (or maybe become stronger)!

I recently completed a personal trainer evaluation with Lauren at Worldgate Sport & Health. When I arrived, she asked questions about my health and fitness background, and discussed my current concerns and goals.  She then evaluated my mobility using some gym equipment and an app called “Fusionetics”.  The app measures how efficient your movement is and provides personalized stretching techniques based on your results. Lauren demonstrated some foam rolling and stretches to improve my mobility and help prevent injury.  She also spotted some imbalances in my form and corrected them.  Then she demonstrated some exercises to target and strengthen my areas of weakness.  Earlier I had mentioned to Lauren that my two pregnancies gave me a slight abdominal separation, and I need to avoid certain abdominal exercises. Lauren is certified in prenatal and postnatal exercise training and demonstrated a helpful abdominal exercise that is safe for postpartum women.  She is a great resource if you are recently postpartum and want to start exercising again!

The personal training evaluation was very helpful and I learned some great new fitness techniques and tips.  The evaluation was also the perfect length of time: long enough that the trainer could listen to my goals and provide useful tips, but short enough that I could fit the evaluation into my busy schedule.

I encourage anyone to meet with a personal trainer at Worldgate Sport & Health! It was very easy to schedule and my kids had a wonderful time at the Kidz Klub during the evaluation.
