Virginia Touch-A-Truck is this Saturday!

March 18, 2015
What child – big or small – doesn’t love the chance to climb aboard a fire truck, cement truck or tractor trailer?  This week, local youngsters will have that opportunity at the Virginia Touch-A-Truck event held by Joshua’s Hands

When: March 21, 2015
Where: Dominion High School 21326 Augusta Drive Sterling, VA 20164.
Time: 10 am – 3 pm. (Horn Free Hour 10 – 11 am)

This event is pet free and will be held, rain or shine!

Admission is $5/person. Children ages 12 months and younger are free. All children need to be accompanied by an adult. The first 300 kids will receive a free diecast car/truck with admission.

Virginia Touch-A-Truck is designed to provide a unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types – public service, emergency, utility, delivery, big rigs and those that are just plain cool – all in one place.  Children are encouraged to touch, climb on and ask questions about their favorite trucks in a safe, supervised environment.  Accompanying company personnel teach children about the equipment displayed and how these machines help in the community.

Get a bite to eat with kid friendly food at the food truck Big Frank’s BBQ. There will be face painting, race track provided by the Boy Scouts for racing diecast cars and kids games.

Some of the exciting vehicles to come see are: Sterling Volunteer Fire Company, Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mobile Ambulance Bus, Fire and Rescue Tanker, Martin’s Potato Rolls Tractor Trailer, Valley Energy Pink Truck, VDOT Snow Blower, The General Lee from the Movie, PMSI and many more…

Joshua’s Hands is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our community.  The organization was established in memory of Joyce and Dwayne Guthrie’s son, Joshua Guthrie, a community servant, who died at the age of 16.

In 2013, we awarded three college scholarships (bringing our total to $22,000+ since we started this program), provided funds for approximately 10 camp scholarships, staffed a project that provides food to the elderly and needy in our community, encouraged teen safe driving, and brought the community together to make 861 quilts for America’s Valiant Warriors receiving treatment for war wounds.  As you can see, we strive to serve our community well.
